What did we think?

For comparison, we selected debit cards from Alfa Bank, FC Otkritie and Rosbank with a minimum cost of service for the year, which are available to all categories of bank clients. The determination of the most profitable card was based on the principle of the minimum costs necessary to accumulate a sufficient number of points to exchange them for a ticket in a compartment on the route: Moscow-St. Petersburg-Moscow (14 thousand points). The calculations took into account bonus points awarded when opening cards or making the first purchase with them. Points awarded during time-limited promotions for purchasing tickets on the Russian Railways website and gift points on the client’s birthday were not taken into account. It was also assumed that the cardholder would not be able to meet the requirements necessary for free card services. Qualification and bonus points. How do they accumulate?

The Russian Railways Bonus program accumulates two types of points: bonus and qualifying.

Both are accrued for trips paid for and actually completed by the program participant on trains (or carriages) of the company JSC FPK (Federal Passenger Company, which is a subsidiary of Russian Railways), running within the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad, as well as on trains " Sapsan" and "Allegro" DOSS (Directorate of High-Speed ​​Transport - branch of Russian Railways).

Points are awarded at the rate of 1 point for every 3.34 rubles spent on purchasing a ticket. Enrollment occurs automatically within 30 days after the start date of the trip, if the participant identification number was specified when issuing the ticket. Otherwise, you can restore unaccounted points “retroactively” by making a so-called retro credit of points (in company terminology). This operation is available in your personal account (PA) no earlier than 30 days and no later than 120 days after the start date of the trip.

Qualifying points are awarded only for trips and are used to obtain a certain status (level) of a participant in the program. Essentially, this is a counter that counts down the number of points until a certain qualification is achieved. It is not possible to use this type of points in any other way.

Initially, the participant is assigned the Basic level, but he can receive the premium Gold (Elite) level if one of the following conditions is met:

  • Accumulate 35 thousand qualifying points;
  • Make 50 trips in trains of “Coupe” class and higher (“SV”, “Lux”) and/or “Sapsan” and “Allegro” trains per calendar year.

Reaching the gold level gives the participant the following privileges:

  • A welcome bonus of 500 bonus points is credited to your personal account in the program;
  • Priority service (in the program contact center and via the feedback form);
  • 50% additional bonus points for each trip made on trains (cars) of the FPC formation;
  • the ability to purchase a ticket for premium points if there are insufficient points on your personal account, and the amount of missing points should not exceed 20% of the cost of the premium service;
  • The ability to issue award tickets without restrictions during periods of increased demand for passenger transportation;
  • Possibility to use special offers from program partners (10% discount at the sanatoriums of JSC RZD-HEALTH and special conditions when booking rooms at the Ukraine Hotel, Moscow).

The Gold level is valid during the so-called qualification period (the time from the moment the level is assigned to the end of the calendar year plus 14 months), and if the above conditions for obtaining elite status are not met during this time, the participant's status will be automatically downgraded to the basic level.

Qualification points additionally encourage passengers to travel by Russian Railways trains as often as possible.

Bonus cards for program participants

The current participant qualification levels in the program (basic and gold) imply the issuance of corresponding cards. The program participant card contains an identification number, first and last name of the participant, and expiration date (for gold level cards).

There is no particular meaning in issuing such cards, since after registration you are assigned an individual participant number, and, in fact, the card is its carrier, nothing more. You can see the virtual card in the email that will be sent to you after registration, or in your personal account by clicking on the “Membership Card” link.

But sometimes a hard drive card may still be needed. With it you can get discounts from 5% to 20% from a few program partners.

For example, the theater named after. A.S. Pushkin, one of the partners, gives the program of the performance as a gift to the owner of the gold card. All in all, not a great honor. Discounts from partners are still not the most important thing in the Russian Railways Bonus...

How to spend points (purchase a premium service)?

So, you have accumulated a certain number of bonus points - those that can be spent on buying a ticket. Now let's figure out how to spend them?

First of all, let’s clarify which tickets can be purchased with points. These are tickets for carriages of the “compartment” level and higher (JSC FPK) and carriages with seats on Sapsan trains (DOSS). For other available types of carriages, see the program website in the “Premium ticket” section. You CANNOT buy award tickets for “general” and “reserved seat” type carriages.

Note! A premium service can only be purchased if there are seats allocated for the premium service for the selected route, train and date.

That is, in some cases, in certain seasons, the quota for award tickets may be reduced. But gold status allows you to bypass this limitation (see above about the gold level).

The program website contains a table of the cost of an award trip, which gives us an idea of ​​the cost in points of a train ticket depending on the distance between the starting and ending stations.

As you can see, the longer the trip, the more reward points you will have to spend. And, of course, their size depends on the type of car. Obviously, it is more profitable to purchase a ticket for a distance close to the very end of the travel range.

If you convert the points in the table into rubles, then it is enough to spend 13,360 rubles on tickets to buy a compartment ticket from N. Novgorod to Moscow (up to 500 km) with points, or 15,030 rubles to travel the same route on Sapsan. Those who travel by train often will save up for a free ticket relatively quickly, but if you rarely use train services, then you must adhere to one simple condition of the program:

You must buy a train ticket at least once every 24 months to earn reward points, otherwise they will expire. If this condition is met, the validity period of the points on your personal account is UNLIMITED.

There are other nuances.

The cost of an award ticket does not include the cost of bed linen and mandatory service fees - they must be paid separately.

Points are not awarded for premium services.

If you paid for a ticket with points and decided to return it, it is better to make a return no later than 8 hours before the train departure time. In this case, fees and linen fees will be refunded, and bonus points will be returned to the participant’s personal account. Otherwise (less than 8 hours left before departure), the deducted points will not be refunded.

All points when debited are debited from ONE personal account.

A premium service can be issued by a program participant to himself an unlimited number of times, and to any person no more than 10 times during a calendar year. Accordingly, a ticket issued using points cannot be reissued to another person.

Note! You can issue an award ticket only for a program participant, provided that he has made at least one trip within the past 2 years (the rules are the same for everyone). After registering, you will receive an email with which you will need to confirm your participation. But the physical card will be sent to you within 8 weeks to the specified postal address. In the case of gold or elite status, the letter will be sent by registered mail within up to 2 weeks.

Family program

Russian Railways Bonus provided for family travel and created a special program. It implies a common bonus account for family members. To do this, you will need to register each member in the loyalty program and determine the main one, i.e. on whose account the points will be accumulated.

Russian Railways Bonus for students

There is also a separate program for students - Russian Railways Bonus for students.

This privilege allows you to receive a 25% discount on tickets in the compartment class and on seated carriages, which are equivalent to the compartment class!

Taking advantage of such generosity is also easy. You need to register on the website https://rzd-bonus.ru, receive a certificate of study from the dean’s office and send it electronically through the feedback form!

Russian Railways Bonus card statuses

Russian Railways Bonus provides 2 participant statuses:

  • base;
  • elite.

Basic status is issued to each registered participant, but gold, or elite, status can be obtained if certain conditions are met:

  1. You need to accumulate 35,000 points in your bonus account, and your status will increase.
  2. Or you need to make at least 50 trips per calendar year in carriages of at least “Coupe” class.
